Following research that began in 2001, the Think2Read Project was set up in 2005 to guide and support teacher understanding in the UK regarding the instruction of literal, inferential and evaluative thinking:central to the teaching of the comprehension strategies - prediction, clarification, questioning and summarisation.
The Revised Primary National Strategy Framework (2006) advise that these essential comprehension skills are in place so that the recommended Reciprocal Reading Framework (Palincsar 1986) can be effectively and meaningfully implemented in the classroom as has been demonstrated in New Zealand, Australian and USA schools.
