Think2Read’s Team-Building Foundation Course (one hourly sessions over 15 weeks)

Lively lesson plans and resources prepare children for the team tasks and exciting challenges of the Think2Read reading comprehension process.

The course takes the children on a learning journey that explores each other’s thinking, their personal strengths and experiences of life through discussion, careful listening and good team-work.

With you as facilitator, they will be shown how to…

• develop their interpersonal skills,
  
• use the ‘language of discussion’ to help them in class and group debate,
  
• identify their gifts, talents and potential,
  
• work together effectively in teams,
  
• complete a variety of fun and challenging tasks in team roles.

Get started now by teaching children the skills they need to assume roles-based focus groups. These roles and groups form the basis of the Think2Read programme, and by learning their team skills now, pupils will be ready to begin learning comprehension skills in the autumn.

Think2Read Comprehension and Enquiry Course (35 weeks - one hourly sessions)

As every teacher knows, reading demands more of the reader than the ability to read what the words say on the page. It also requires them to understand the author’s meaning and intention as they read.

The Think2Read programme is a research-proven whole school approach that begins with the essential strategies for understanding pictures and text in Key Stage 1. These strategies and questioning techniques are developed further and consolidated as the children progress through the school from Year 1 to Year 6 and into Key stage 3.
